Originating in the United States, this treat quickly became a popular choice, especially during the Thanksgiving season. With its beautiful spiral shape and harmonious taste, it’s not just a feast for the palate, but also for the eyes!

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup solid-packed pumpkin
  • 1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup optional chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (to sprinkle on wax paper)

Steps to Make the Perfect Pumpkin Roll:

  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F. Prepare a 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan by greasing it, lining it with wax paper, then greasing and flouring once more.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt. Meanwhile, in a larger bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until they achieve a thick consistency.
  3. Proceed to mix in the pumpkin, followed by the flour combination. Ensure it’s spread evenly in your prepared pan. If you’re using walnuts, sprinkle them on now.
  4. Let it bake for around 13-15 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when the cake springs back upon touch.
  5. Upon taking it out, quickly turn the cake onto wax paper that’s been lightly covered with powdered sugar. Gently peel off the initial paper layer. Roll the cake and powdered sugar-coated wax paper, starting from the narrowest end, and allow it to cool.
  6. In the meantime, whip together the cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and butter until you achieve a smooth texture.
  7. Unroll your cooled pumpkin layer cautiously and spread your cream cheese blend over it. Reroll the pumpkin layer without the wax paper.
  8. For a final touch, sprinkle some more powdered sugar on top. Refrigerate your pumpkin roll for a minimum of 1 hour before you slice and serve. Enjoy your delectable treat!
